概要
Outline		 　紀の国トレイナートは紀伊半島を海沿いに走る、和歌山県JRきのくに線の列車と駅舎、沿線地域を舞台に展開するアートプロジェクトです。12の市町が制作をサポートし、地域の人々とアーティストが共に場に応じた作品を生み出すことを目指しています。
2019年度は、走行中のきのくに線の車窓から鑑賞する作品を募集いたします。沿線の風景のなか、車窓を額縁に見立て作品を鑑賞します。紀の国トレイナート開催中にはJR西日本の協力のもと臨時アート列車「紀の国トレイナート号」が運行し、例年4車両が沢山の人で賑わいます。今回、作品の前では速度を落としての走行を予定しています。
企画は行政を中心とする地域のみなさまに大きな協力を得て進めています。制作過程に地域住民との共同作業が含まれる企画も多く求めています。また「紀の国トレイナート号」運行時には作品前などで列車に向けてのパフォーマンス企画も期待しています。
移動するきのくに線の車窓から、風景の中に作品を鑑賞する、新しいアートプロジェクトを目指しております。紀の国トレイナートの取り組みにご賛同くださり、表現してくださるアーティストとの出会いを求めて作品公募を行います。Kinokuni TrainArt is an art project set in the trains, station buildings and areas along the route of the JR Kinokuni Line. The JR Kinokuni Line runs along the coast of the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama. Twelve cities and towns will support the production of works by artists who will collaborate with locals to create pieces suitable for the area.
For 2019, we are looking for works that can be appreciated from the windows of trains running along the Kinokuni Line. The works will be displayed amidst the scenery along the railway, framed by the windows of the train. During the Kinokuni TrainArt season, with the cooperation of the West Japan Railway Company, a special art train (the Kinokuni TrainArt train) is placed in service. Each year, the four cars of the train are crowded with people. This year, there are plans to slow the train down as it passes by the works on the route.
The project is proceeding with the deep cooperation of everyone in the area, especially local officials. We are seeking proposals for projects that will include local residents in the production process. We also hope to receive proposals that involve performances in front of the works or elsewhere when the Kinokuni TrainArt train goes into service.
We envision a new kind of art project featuring works set amidst the scenery that can be appreciated from the windows of a moving train on the Kinokuni Line. We are seeking artists who share that vision and can help us realize it.

※ Artists will stay in an area designated by the executive committee to produce their works.

公募条件
Requirements for application		 申請者は下記の条件を満たすかたとします。

・期間中、きのくに線車窓から見える風景の中に作品を地域住民と共に制作し、紀の国トレイナート開幕までに作品を完成させられるかた。
・紀の国トレイナートの趣旨・目的を理解し、地域住民に敬意をもって制作できるかた。
・期間中、他の参加作家と共同生活ができるかた。
・制作期間、臨時列車運行日、搬出予定期間に対応できるかた。
・英語、あるいは日本語の日常会話が可能なかた。
・健康が良好であるかた。
・実行委員会が設定するマスコミからの取材に対応できるかた。

The applicants must:
-be able to produce a work within the specified period in cooperation with local residents, to be set on the landscape and viewed from the windows of a train along the Kinokuni Line
-understand the purpose and objectives of the Kinokuni TrainArt project and be able to produce a work showing respect to local residents
-be able to live with other participating artists during the specified period
-be able to cope with the schedules for production, operation of the special train and removal of the works
-be able to speak conversational English or Japanese
-be in good health
-be able to handle interviews with mass media arranged by the executive committee
詳細
Details		 旅費:
日本国内居住地最寄りの駅から制作地最寄り駅までの1回分の往復鉄道運賃(新幹線、特急自由席)、支給される旅費の上限は4万円です。(海外からの作家の場合は交通費一部補助として上限10万円を支給)
別途、新大阪から制作地までは列車にて3往復の支給があります。制作費:
上限10万円保険:
健康保険、および、傷害保険はアーティスト側で加入してください。主催者は、作家の制作における保険加入等に関する責務は負いません。（地域住民との共同作業はこの限りではありません。）

滞在:
原則として単身滞在としますが、夫婦、子供連れ、アシスタントを伴う場合は、応募申請時に必ず申し出てください。決定後の申告については対応しかねますのでご了承ください。急な訪問者の宿舎での滞在は受け入れません。地域の宿泊施設をご利用ください。
※グループでの応募の場合は上記旅費、材料費をグループ内で折半していただくようになります。

Travel expenses:
Up to ¥40,000 for travel expenses will be provided to cover one round trip from the station nearest to your residence within Japan to the station nearest tothe production location. (For overseas artists, we will provide up to ¥100,000 to assist in covering travel expenses.) The fare for three round-trips by train from Shin-Osaka Station to the production location will be provided separately.

Production cost:
Up to ¥100,000

Insurance:
Please purchase health insurance and accident insurance on your own.
The organizers cannot take any responsibility for insurance related to the artist’s production, etc. (This does not apply to collaborative work with local residents.)

Stay:
As a general rule, you will come alone. If you intend to bring a spouse, children or an assistant, please be sure to mention that when applying. We cannot accept notifications of additional travelers after the selection. Unexpected visitors will not be able to stay at the lodging house. Please use other accommodations in the area.
※ If applying as a group, the expenses for travel and materials mentioned above must be split between the group.

企画下見ツアー
Preliminary planning tour		 4月20日(土)〜 21(日)

・下見ツアーはきのくに線にご乗車いただき行います。
・具体的な設置可能場所は下見時にお伝えさせていただきます。
・下見ツアーは交通費自己負担になります。宿舎は実行委員会が用意します。
・やむを得ず日程が合わない方はご連絡ください。
・海外在住者は下見ツアーに参加できなくても構いません。
・過去参加作家は下見ツアー不参加でも構いませんが、参加をお勧めいたします。

Saturday, April 20th – Sunday, April 21st

・You will ride a train on the Kinokuni Line for the preliminary tour.
・During the tour, we will show you the locations where works can be installed.
・You will have to cover travel expenses for the tour yourself. The executive committee will prepare a lodging house.
・Please let us know if your schedule does not allow you to participate in the tour.
・Artists who have participated in the past may choose to skip the tour, but we recommend against doing so.

以降、選考作家は9月27日（金）までに作品を制作April 8th (Monday): Deadline for submission/sending of portfolio (as indicated by the postmark on the envelope)
April 15th (Monday): Notification to artists by email of the results of the first screening
April 20th (Saturday) and 21st (Sunday): Preliminary tour for artists selected in the first screening
May 7th (Tuesday): Deadline for project proposal for the second screening
May 8th (Wednesday) to May 26th (Sunday): The tuning council will work with the artists to refine their plan for the work, as well as selecting the location and people involved.
May 27th (Monday): Notification of final selection of artists by email
After that, the selected artists will have until Friday, September 27th to finish their work.

Send the required documents (described above) either by post (postmarked on or before the deadline) or by email (sent on or before the deadline).
審査
Judging		 チューニング協議会が各会場の諸条件・関係者や住民との関わりなどを考慮し選定。
(チューニング協議会は、JR西日本、各市町村、田辺商工会議所、紀の国トレイナート実行委員会によって構成されています。)

The tuning council will decide matters such as the conditions for each venue, the staff and the involvement of local residents.
(The tuning council is composed of the West Japan Railway Company, all of the municipalities, the Tanabe Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kinokuni TrainArt Executive Committee.)
